My work resides at the intersection of seeing and perceiving, where the experiences of painting meet those of lived body and memory. As a painter, that is, to see as a painter, the element of paint, and its qualities are now mirrored in the qualities of things; things which, along with the processes of painting must also include the artist’s memories and the events which give rise to those memories. Likewise, seeing and memory take on the qualities of the paint, just as seeing and memory are realized through that medium...

...painting, even representational painting, consists of pushing substance around on a surface. The painter in creating an image does not re-create visual experience, nor do they create the object, that thing that is the artist’s subject. The artist/painter instead creates an environment and those conditions in which that subject might exist.
